How it Works

Axo Wraps are a proprietary heat conformable wrap developed specifically for the prosthetic and orthotic market. They are typically supplied as a dual layer system which includes the structural polymer and a specialty heat/pressure activated adhesive between the wrap and the socket creating a secure sealed fit to protect, reinforce, and enhance the surface quality of the prosthesis.   The first versions are designed to be semi-removable so they can be changed with a bit of effort and heat.  This is a delicate trade off for the structural wrap, as good adhesion promotes a stronger transfer of tensile and sheer forces from the socket to the outer wrap.  

Our wraps dramatically enhance the strength of the underlying socket, but also improve chemical resistance, impact resistance, and reduce environmental factors. The well formed adhesive layer creates a seal and additional barrier for dust, dirt, and debris.
